# Azure Application Insights

Connects Kotharo to Azure Application Insights for errors and logs. [All adapters](https://kotharo.com/docs/adapters/)

## What you need

- An MCP server for Azure Application Insights, connected in Claude Code.
- The `npx` command, from [Node.js, which brings npm and npx](https://nodejs.org/en/download).
- The `az` command, from [Azure CLI](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cli/azure/install-azure-cli).

## Connect

`/kotharo:setup` finds Azure Application Insights and takes you through these steps. To connect it by hand:

claude mcp add --scope user azure -- npx -y @azure/mcp@3 server start --namespace monitor --mode all --read-only
```

Install Node.js, which brings npm and npx. [Its install page](https://nodejs.org/en/download) covers other systems.

macOS:

```

Windows, in Git Bash:

## Sign in

Run az login, then az account set --subscription `<subscription>` for the one that holds Application Insights. Reading needs Log Analytics Reader on its workspace.

To check you are signed in, run `az account show`.
