# Amazon CloudWatch

Connects Kotharo to Amazon CloudWatch for errors and logs. [All adapters](https://kotharo.com/docs/adapters/)

## What you need

- An MCP server for Amazon CloudWatch, connected in Claude Code.
- The `uvx` command, from [uv, which brings uvx](https://docs.astral.sh/uv/getting-started/installation/).

## Connect

`/kotharo:setup` finds Amazon CloudWatch and takes you through these steps. To connect it by hand:

`<profile>` is the AWS CLI profile the cloud-auth adapter signs in, such as the cloud-profile in the repo's Deploy section. The server reads that profile's credentials itself; never add access keys to the command.

```
claude mcp add --scope user cloudwatch -e AWS_PROFILE=<profile> -e FASTMCP_LOG_LEVEL=ERROR -- uvx awslabs.cloudwatch-mcp-server@latest
```

Install uv, which brings uvx. [Its install page](https://docs.astral.sh/uv/getting-started/installation/) covers other systems.

macOS:

```
curl -LsSf https://astral.sh/uv/install.sh | sh
```

Windows, in Git Bash:

```
powershell -ExecutionPolicy ByPass -c "irm https://astral.sh/uv/install.ps1 | iex"
```

Linux:

```
curl -LsSf https://astral.sh/uv/install.sh | sh
```

## Sign in

Sign in with the cloud-auth adapter's step, such as aws sso login --profile `<profile>`. Your role needs logs:DescribeLogGroups, logs:StartQuery, logs:GetQueryResults and logs:StopQuery.
