How to install Kotharo, work with the team, and fit it to the way your team works.

Get started

  • Install: What Kotharo needs, how to add its marketplace and install the plugin, and how to connect your tools.
  • Quickstart: From no install to the team's first ticket in one repo, in six steps.
  • Update and uninstall: How Kotharo updates itself, how to update by hand, and how to remove it and what it leaves behind.
  • Troubleshooting: The problems people hit most with Kotharo, the message each one shows, and the fix.

How it works

  • Roles and tiers: Who is on the team, which model each role runs on, and how the team staffs a ticket with the fewest roles at the lowest tier that can do the job.
  • Lanes and stops: How the team sizes a ticket into a lane, where each lane stops for you, and the only other reasons it interrupts.
  • The band and stop cards: What the band above the prompt shows, what a stop card holds, and how you answer one.
  • Context ring: The ring in the band that shows how full the context window is, and the button that saves your place before it fills.
  • Autonomy levels: Choose how often the team stops to ask, from guided to autonomous, and which actions always ask whatever the level.
  • Teaching mode: Have the team explain why each step matters as it works, or ask you to guess first, with your progress kept private to you.
  • Guardrails: The shell commands Kotharo holds for your OK or refuses outright, how a hold works, and how a team adds its own.
  • Worklogs and continuity: How Kotharo carries what was decided from one session to the next, with branch worklogs, state files and snapshots before compaction.
  • Work already under way: Bring the team into a ticket someone already started with /kotharo:join, and take it off again with /kotharo:leave.

Commands

  • Commands: The Kotharo commands a tech lead runs in Claude Code.
  • Cheatsheet: Every Kotharo command and stop on one page, from starting a ticket to the tools it connects.
  • /kotharo:config: Show any Kotharo setting and where it comes from, and set or remove one for this repo, for you on this repo, or for all your repos.

Extend

  • Adapters: The tools the Kotharo team connects to, and the ones planned.
  • Write a team profile: Package one team's settings, rules, guardrails, agents and skills as a plugin in the team's own repo and marketplace.

More

  • FAQ: Short answers to the questions people ask before and after they install Kotharo.
  • Security and privacy: What Kotharo sends over the network, every file it writes, what always asks, and how releases are checked, each with the file it was checked against.
  • Changelog: What changed in each release, newest first.
